GUWAHATI, May 21 – “The Northeast Frontier Railway is gradually emerging with an identity characterised by better performance both in optimum utilisation of resources, and on the front of manpower management,” said Trikalagya Rabha, CPRO, N F Railways in an informal press meet today.
The recently appointed CPRO, explaining the reasons behind his claim stated that as a technology driven organisation, N F Railway has gradually augmented its reliance on modern management practices, so that expenses are reduced and earnings are enhanced. Putting at rest fears of retrenchment of employees, he affirmed that the NFR would continue enlarging its role as an efficient service provider that is also cost effective.
The NFR is also geared to handle increased train traffic in the region, and could play a significant part in the emerging economic situation, he added. He referred to the NFR’s role as the region’s single largest carrier of goods, which included valuable petroleum products. The CPRO also informed that the Central Railway Board would be meeting in Guwahati on May 28. R K Singh, Chairman of the board, along with several other senior railway officials would be attending the meet.
