NH: Environmental report on Kothar Ali submitted

PATHSALA, February 10: An environmental study report prepared by Dulal Goswami, Professor and Head of the Department of Environmental Science, GU has been submitted recently to the Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) on the Kothar Ali, a PWD road in Barpeta district to facilitate its conversion to a National Highway (NH). BRTF officials also assisted him in preparing the survey report. It may be mentioned here that much water has flowed down the Brahmaputra since the proposal for conversion of the road to a NH on mutual understanding and co-operation between the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and Bhutan Government was taken. The highway would be constructed by the BRTF. The people of Bajali sub-division now expect that the construction of the highway would start without delay and a long-cherished hope would be fulfilled. Dharma Sabha: The second annual Dharma Sabha of Chidananda Sadhana Yogashram, Anandapur, Bhotanta Saderi about 5 km from Pathsala was held with a three-day programme from February 3 to 5. The programme on the occasion included lighting of lamp, flag-hoisting, Bhagavat path, illumination, Geeta path and open meeting etc. Raij naam: The tenth annual 'Raij Naam' of Khutaguri village near Pathsala will be held on March 3. Meanwhile a celebration committee has been formed with Kalicharan Patgiri as president, Hemanta Patgiri as secretary and Narayan Patgiri as assistant secretary. Non supply of power: The ASEB consumers of Baghmara locality have expressed serious resentment over regular non-supply of power from 10.45 pm on every night to the locality. The consumers on contacting the ASEB, Pathsala, received only harsh and rude replies from the personnel in the control room.
