NLFT faction wants dialogue to bring peace in Tripura

AGARTALA, Nov 30 ? National Liberation Front of Tripura?s factional (NLFT-NB) leader Nayanbashi Jamatia has stressed on political dialogue with state and central governments to bring an end to the decade long militancy in the state.

Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, Nayanbashi said that Indigenous Freedom Movement of Tripura (IFMOT), a newly floated organization of the outfit by him is keen to hold political dialogue in the coming days. As Nayanbashi will be out on a foreign tour it will be Bartholomew Borok, another influential leader of the outfit who will attend the next round of talks in New Delhi.

Nayanbashi, who is all set to undertake a whirlwind tour of the North-east followed by a foreign tour seemed to have got a hint that there is little chance that the ceasefire that is now in place will continue after the last date expires on December 31 next. The new mantra that Nayanbashi has decided to pursue is that a political solution is needed to bring lasting peace in the state. He claimed that the Centre would announce Rs. 235 crore packages for the uplift of the indigenous people.

Nayanbashi also came out with a new revelation and claimed that the ATTF supreme Ranjit Debbarma has in a letter written to him claimed that he is willing to form an alliance with him in the near future. The alliance may be formed in the event of breakdown of the present peace talks, claimed Nayanbashi. He also candidly stated that it is true that the success of the present peace talks will hold in bringing the likes of Ranjit Debbarma back to the mainstream.

Nayanbashi seemed to be angry at the stance of the State Government taken on the issue of extension of the cease-fire period. He stated that they would talk with the Centre. He said that the Left Front Government was not willing to facilitate the implementation of the Borok package.

The Joint Monitoring Group will do the implementation of this package. Reacting to the state BJP leaderships claim that his head of firing dacoit group Nayanbashi claimed himself to be a freedom fighter and demanded the arrest of those who are opposing the peace process.
