HAILAKANDI, April 8— Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today announced that there is no Bangladeshi Muslim living illegally in Assam. Addressing a big election rally in Hailakandi in favour of Congress candidate from Karimganj seat Lalit Mohan Suklabaidya, he alleged that it is the propaganda of BJP and Sangh Parivar. He assured that the communal leader Praveen Togadia’s entry has been banned in the State and informed that he will have to give an undertaking that he will not give any speech which may create communal tension in the State. He strongly declared that his Congress Government will protest against the repeal of IMDT Act. He also criticised Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee for his comment regarding the existence of millions of Bangladeshis in the State. He criticised the role of Vajpayee and Advani for helping British regime against Indians. He urged the people to root them out from the power.
Attacking the AGP Gogoi alleged that the party has deprived the people of Barak valley despite being voted to power twice. He narrated the achievements of Congress government in the State and informed that more than 80 thousand self-help groups have been formed to empower the rural women and one lakh KCC and one lakh LPG cylinders have been distributed among the poor people. He expressed confidence that the Congress candidates in Barak Valley would win. Social Welfare Minister Gautam Roy also spoke on the occasion.
