Imphal, March 09: President of Federal Party of Manipur, FPM and convenor of the Opposition, Democratic People?s Alliance, DPA Dr L Chandramani today confidently predicted that a DPA Government led by the FPM would assume power within two/three months. FPM is the second largest party after the Congress with 13 MLAs and the DPA has 24 members (BJP-4, SAP-3, MPP-2 and DPP-2). Speaking at the reception function accorded to the newly elected MLAs of the FPM today at its party office, Dr Chandramani said that the FPM has now emerged as a major regional party and the electoral success of its 13 MLAs proves this beyond any doubt. He said that the FPM will be able to usher in a change in the political climate of Manipur. Chandramani further said that the DPA will minutely study the functioning of the Congress led SPF. The DPA will play the role of a constructive Opposition, he assured. DPA will act according to the wishes and aspirations of the people and if the SPF Government fails to deliver the goods then PDA will not remain silent but will take up due political process to assume power, said Chandramani. The FPM chief further said though the party was hoping that it would be able to send up at least 24/24 MLAs in the elections the calculations took a beating due to some ?unforeseen political changes? that swept the State. A number of political heavyweights who were sure shots lost in the elections, he said. Chandramani lost the Patsoi seat to CPI?s Nabadwip. FPM vice-president Gangmumei Kamei said the DPA will act according to the political situation and play the role of a responsible Opposition. MLA from Singjamei A/c, I Hemochandra was conspicuously absent at the reception function. A number of FPM candidates who were not successful in the elections were also present at the function.
