AGARTALA, March 27 — Pakistan army were imparting commando training to Tripura-based insurgents in their country to launch subversive activities in Indian territory police said Wednesday quoting a surrendered militant, reports PTI.
Police said this information was available from a self-styled sergeant of the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) who surrendered to the IG, CRPF, Sukhjinder Singh at Naraingarh in West Tripura district Wednesday. He had surrendered along with three other insurgents of the same outfit.
Hemanta Tripura, the self-styled sergeant who deposited an AK-46 rifle and some live cartridges to the IG, CRPF, said the he had been recruited in 1999 and got his basic training at Mechhlong camp in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh.
After a few months, he went to Pakistan along with a batch of NLFT insurgents by ship. He was given commando training and also help to acquire the skill of laying of mines.
Police said 13 insurgents of different outfits had surrendered to security forces within the past two days in different places and deposited arms and ammunition.
