UDALGURI, July 25 ? Finally, after much speculation, the full-fledged body of the All Bodo Peace Forum (ABPF) was recently formed at Harimubhawan here in the presence of more than 200 representatives from Sonitpur, Darrang, Kamrup, Nalbari, Kokrajhar and Shillong who were looking forward to ?a good hope? for the banned outfit organisation ? the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB). The meeting chaired by J Basumatary resolved to create a congenial atmosphere needed for the preparations to bring the Bodo ultra outfit to the negotiation table.
After a broad consensus, the meeting formed a full-fledged body of the All Bodo Peace Forum with Maniram Mochahary, former President of Bodo Sahitya Sabha and Bhraman Baglary as the president and secretary respectively along with executive members including working ;president, vice-presidents and organising secretaries.
The meeting appealed to the NDFB leaders to initiate the process of dialogue with the Union and the State Governments in the greater interest of peace and development in the Bodo-dominated region of the State.
The meeting also held the view that the Bodo people as a whole cannot remain silent spectalors as its sons and brothers are spending their troublesome days and nights in the dense forests of Assam, Bhutan and Bangladesh since the past years. Even though a pro-talk faction of the organisation tried to make its leaders come to the negotiation table, yet its efforts bore no fruits owing to some internal reasons. The pro-talk faction ? most of whom have now surrendered ? still pins its hopes on the logic that its ?left out? brothers would surely respond to the call made by the Bodo people.
The All Bodo Peace Forum, was earlier formed on April 8 with Sailendra Nath Brahma and Bhraman Baglary as the president and the secretary respectively of the ad-hoc body, but later on, Brahma resigned as the president on personal grounds.
Even though some Bodo intellectuals here expressed their doubts on the credibility of ABPF saying that the organisation (ABPF) was heading towards political gain. But its supporters comter the charge saying that organisation would be enough to show its objectives ? one of which is to create a platform for negotiation between the NDFB and the Government agencies.
