HAFLONG, Dec 24 ? With the adoption of Roman script to be used in Dimasa language as per recommendation of expert committee constituted by Dimasa Latridim Mel (DLM) (Dimasa Sahitya Sabha) the two-day long 3rd general conference of the Dimsas Latridim Mel concluded on Sunday here. GC Langthasa, Minister, Hills Area Development etc welcomed the resolution of adoption of Roman script by the DLM. Addressing the open session as chief guest, he assured to give Rs 50,000 to the DLM from his MLA Local Area Development Fund.
Sanjib Deblaskar, representative of Banga Sahitya Sammelan, Silchar spoke about the literary works of Dimasa kings like King Krishnachan Govindachandra etc with historical evidence. He also highlighted the then rich Dimasa culture and literature. He, however, expressed concern over the indifferent attitude of the young generation towards their own literature and culture. He further warned them not to get misled by so-called global design of culture and literature.
Among others SN Upadhaya, ex-MAC, GC Hojai, Ex-CEM, JK Thao, ex-principal secretary, SI Hussain, Principal Secretary, NC Hills Autonomous Council also spoke on the occasion. Among other resolutions taken in the third general conference formation of Dimasa Publication Board for the publication of text books etc., installation of statues of Tularam Senapati at Manza Tiniali in Karbi Anglong and also in Nagaon district and also to hold the 4th general conference of DLM in Karbi Anglong were the significant ones. With Dr Motilal Nunisa as president and Ramendra Langthasa as general secretary, a 39-member new body of DLM was also formed.
The district committee of DLM from Karbi Anglong, Cachar, Nagaon, NC Hills and Nagaland participated in the conference. A colourful cultural programme was also held. Earlier, on December 20 DLM flag was hoisted by Dr Motilal Nunisa amid huge gathering in a heavy downpour. To respect the departed soul of late JL Thaosen, founder president of DLM one minute silence was observed at the start of the open session.
