ITANAGAR, Feb 4 ? The Arunachal Pradesh Government is awaiting the sanction Rs. 67.29 crore under the Centre?s Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (APDRP) for development of the power scenario in Miao, Dirang and Naharlagun circles, informed the state Power Minister Kento Ete.
A tripartite agreement between the Union Power Ministry, National Power Grid Corporation and the state government would be signed to facilitate the receipt of the amount as soon as the sanction is available, said Ete.
Meanwhile, the NEEPCO at Ranganadi generating station has started producing 135 MW of power from January 31 out of which 65 MW is coming to Nirjuli Sub station on the 132 KV line. The rest is going to Rangapara 400KV line and finally to the North East Power Grid, revealed Ete and added, the power supply to Nirjuli would ease the power problem in the Capital complex to some extent.
Speaking on the general power situation in the sate, the Minister said, any improvement, as the word was understood, was not assignable to Aladin and his wonder lamp. Proper electrification of as big a State as Arunachal Pradesh, supported by uninterrupted power supply, would take years. ?We would have to learn to live with the teething problem which is a part of the game called development?, Ete asserted.
Nevertheless, improvement has taken place during the last couple of weeks, Ete Observed, and urged the consumers to take note of it. ?However, now that a regular chief engineer has been appointed and the shortage of officers in the executive rank has been made up, the State Power department is relieved to a great extent,? the Minister Said.
