Sabha has united various ethnic groups: Borgohain

SIPAJHAR, Jan 3 – “The Asam Sahitya Sabha has united the various ethnic groups and tribes on the basis of the motto of modern liberal nationalism and it focusses on the nationalistic feelings of the people,” Asam Sahitya Sabha president Sri Homen Borgohain said. He was addressing as chief guest of the open meeting of the celebration of the foundation day of Asam Sahitya Sabha at Bordaulguri held under the auspices of Darrang District Sahitya Sabha in collaboration with its Bordaulguri branch on December 27 last.

In his speech while discussing the popular image of Sabha, he stressed proper utilisation of money and winning people’s faith through its activities. He appreciated the literary activities of Darrang District Sahitya Sabha and its branch. He also released a book on the society and civilisation of Bardaulguri area and emphasised adoption of a plan of action. Sri Parama Nanda Rajbanshi, former editor of the Sahitya Sabha journal released a souvenir published on the occasion. He also released a story book written by Sri Ram Chandra Nath.

The other distinguished guests of the meeting include Sri Suresh Garodia, Idris Ali, former vice-president, Asam Sahitya Sabha and Sri Reban Chandra nath. Sri Dhanpati Kalita, president, Darrang District Sahitya Sabha presided over the meeting. Earlier, various cultural troupes presented their respective folk songs and dances in the function.
