GUWAHATI, July 12? The security forces have geared up operations along the Indo-Bhutan border in the wake of the Royal government?s pressure on the militant groups operating from different hideouts of that country. Official sources today disclosed that the security forces are keeping a close watch on the border to prevent the militants from sneaking into the state. ?The entire Indo-Bhutan border is sensitive and hence we have to remain vigilant to foil any attack of the militants?, the sources said. It may be recalled that the Bhutan government has asked the militants to vacate its soil.
The sources further revealed that the three districts ?Kokrajhar, Darrang and Nalbari have been identified as sensitive districts and militants might try to enter them taking advantage of hilly-terrain. ?We have asked the security personnel to gear up operations in the districts to restrict the movement of the ultras?, they added.
On the movement of ultras, the sources said that according to reports, the leadership of the ULFA and the NDFB had conducted surveys last week to sneak into Bangladesh through Tripura border. ?We have come to know about the development after arrest of ULFA members who during questioning revealed that ULFA leadership is trying to use Tripura route in association with the NLFT to cross over to Bangladesh?, they added.
In this context, they informed that after the new development in Bhutan, the ULFA and the NDFB have decided to consolidate their bases in Bangladesh. ?We have also geared up vigilance along the Indo-Bangla border to foil the gameplan of the ULFA and the NDFB?, the sources added.
