Spring Festival ends in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, May 29 ? The two-day Spring Festival-2002 coinciding with Buddha Purnima ended on May 26 at Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh where the world?s second largest Buddhist monastery is located at an altitude of 3500 metres, reports PTI. The occasion was celebrated as mega tourism festival to portray Tawang as a major tourist destination in the country. The festival was jointly organised by Tawang district administration, Tourism department of Arunachal Pradesh and Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, an official release said here on Wednesday. Foreign and domestic tourists thronged Tawang in large numbers to participate in the festivities, who were accorded warm traditional reception.
