JULI MAIDAN (Barama), February 15: Time is now favourable for holding talk with Bodo organisations for a permanent solution to the Bodo problem, UG Brahma, president of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) said today. Talking exclusively to The Assam Tribune, Brahma said that the students body has decided to give more stress on the socio-economic development of the Bodo dominated areas and to ensure better academic atmosphere. However, the demand for a separate State will be an important part of ABSU's agenda. The ABSU supremo further said that the discussion on its political strategies for the forthcoming assembly election will be held in Barama conference. It will extend its full supports to any regional and national parties to get more seats in the favour of ABSU. On the present AASU-ABSU relation, Brahma said , "we are ready to work together for the uplift of indigenous people of the State besides some common problems." The AASU in this regard also agreed with the ABSU move and the second round of discussion to chalk out a common agenda will be held in mid-March, Brahma said adding that ABSU is the only students body which holding talk with all organisations. Meanwhile the insurgency ridden Barama area wore a festive atmosphere after a long interval as thousands of people came from different parts of the State to participate in the annual conference of ABSU. The second day of the conference was celebrated as the foundation day of ABSU. The day long celebration was started with the hoisting of ABSU flag by UG Brahma, president of ABSU which was followed by the paying of homage to the Bodo national martyrs by Govinda Bor, chairman of Bodo People Action Committee. On the occasion a meeting was held under the presidentship of U G Brahma. Addressing the meeting as chief guest Prabin Boro, president of All Assam Students Union (AASU) said that the greater Assamese nation is presently divided in several groups which adversely affected the development of all communities. For that he called upon the people to take efforts to unite all people in a platform. He further called upon the insurgent outfits to come forward for extending their help to ABSU for their nation creation process.
