Tuskers cause havoc in Kaliabor areas

KALIABOR, Dec 24? Depredation by a herd of wild elephants at Chatial Mouza under Kaliabor sub-division has been causing panic among the inhabitants of the areas of Sorubhagiya, Sakmothi, Alchirnagagaon, Dalgaon, Bharali-gaon, Majgaon, Sonarigaon and other neighbouring villages. The wild elephants have been damaging standing crops. The inhabitants have been spending sleepless nights.

Despite repeated demands, the department concerned as well as local administration have not taken any appropriate measures to drive out the wild elephants causing havoc and operating from the forests of Kaziranga and Karbi Anglong district, it is learnt.

Power failure : The public of Kaliabor has expressed strong resentment over erratic power failure in the area. It has become a regular feature. In the evening the entire area remains without power for one to two hours causing a lot of inconveniences to the people. The worst sufferers are the students community. The public has urged the authority to take proper steps to improve the power situation in the entire area immediately.
