AIZAWL, March 6 ? British Deputy High Commissioner to India Dr John Mitchener on Tuesday said that he would try to find ways to export ginger and passion fruit from Mizoram to the United Kingdom, reports PTI. Mitchener, who is on a three-day visit to Mizoram told reporters here that he discussed the prospects of export of agriculture and horticulture produces from Mizoram with the State Chief Minister Zoramthanga, Trade and Commerce minister Aichhinga and other leaders. He promised that he would contact private companies in Britain to explore the possibilities of importing Mizoram?s agriculture and horticulture products. He also said that he would intimate the British Council to ensure that more students from the North-east are selected among 5,000 Indian students who were sent to the UK for technical and other studies. Accepting that drug-trafficking from the golden triangle through Mizoram to the western countries had become a problem. He said that he would pursue the matter of helping the enforcement agencies here if a formal request is made. The British diplomat met the State Governor AR Kohli, Chief Minister Zoramthanga, his Cabinet colleagues, Chief Secretary V Lalringa, opposition leaders and non-governmental organisations.
