GUWAHATI, Aug 16 ? The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) today admitted in an oblique manner, that the Dhemaji blast was its handiwork. In an e-mail statement issued by the self-styled chairman of the banned outfit, Arabinda Rajkhowa, today said that the schoolchildren of Dhemaji were used as shield by the Indian occupation force and its agents to defy the boycott call ?of a struggling organisation which has been engaging itself to uphold the popular interest despite military repression.? This act of the occupation force and its agents led to the tragic loss of so many students, said the ULFA supremo.
August 15 is not the Independence Day for Assam. It is rather the day of subjugation for the State. On this day the people of the State lost their birth right. This day cannot be celebrated by the people of Assam. Therefore, the ULFA has been appealing to the people to boycott all the functions of the Independence Day. Besides, six
revolutionary organisations of the occupied areas have also endorsed this boycott call, the ULFA supremo stated. However, expressing deep sorrow at the tragic death of so many students in Dhemaji, the ULFA leader prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls, and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families.
He also appealed to the people ?not to misunderstand the ULFA?, and not to fail in identifying the Indian occupation force and its agents who have been trying to exploit the situation by pitting the innocent people like the students, against the revolutionary organisations.
