GUWAHATI, April 4 ? The United People?s Democratic Solidarity (UPDS) has in a release said that the organisation celebrated its eighth raising day on March 22 at the base area located at seven kilometres from the Rongbbin (General Head Quarter) in West Karbi Anglong. The organisation called for a permanent solution to the political problem in Karbi Anglong and NC Hills. The celebration day started with unfurling of the organisation flag by the UPDS chairman L Sonar and briefing about the important and significant of the raising day and the flag. The programme was followed by candle lighting in commemoration to the ?hero Martyr? who had laid down their life for the great cause ?The Hemprok Kangthim? by the ?Chief of Army staff? Leen Timung, and other programmes like ?read-out of the annual organisation report by General Secretary Ding-eh, rewarding the cross-gallantary award, felicitation to the village head-man etc. The celebration was witnessed by a gathering of more than 1000 people, the release claimed. In the open session meeting most of the leaders from the organisation itself emphasised the need of mass involvement in the process of finding a permanent political solution of the long standing political problem in Karbi Anglong and NC Hills.
