VHP and allies to check NLFT, plan strategy

AGARTALA, February 26: Concerned at the relentless onslaughts on Hindu activists and institutions by the NLFT militants, the VHP and other Sangh Parivar members have decided to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to counter the menace. It is organising a Sanatan Dharma Sammelan on March 8 at Astabal where top religious leaders of the country are expected to be present. Among the prominent leaders expected to be present during the sammelan are the VHP international president Ashok Singhal; Mathadhish of Gorkshanath Math, Gorkahpur; Mahanta Avaidyanth and Mathadhish Paramartha of the Sadhak Sangha Mahaman-daleshwar Vishnu Puri. Okra Bikram Bahadur Jamatia of Jamatia Hoda will also participate in the sammelan. Hoda, which has launched a fight against the proselityastion of Hindu tribes by the militants, is one of the total 42 organisers who will participate in the sammelan. According to sources, the sammelan will focus on the attacks on Hindus, forcible conversions, murder of Shanti Kali besides the sustained and selective attacks on Hindu institutions. The abduction and reported murder of four senior RSS pracharaks will also come up for detailed discussion. According to sources, the top Hindu religious leaders and Hindu organisations are concerned at the way Hindus are being attacked in Tripura by the militants while 'the state government has remained mere spectator". The religious leaders, who will come to Tripura, will also hold a similar sammelan at Silchar on February 28.
