Abducted DHD ultras released

SILCHAR, March 11 (NEPS): The NSCN-IM, alleged to be responsible for kidnapping of three Dima Halam Daoga (DHD) cadres reportedly released the abducted persons - Ajir Dimasa, Samil Dimasa and P Kapla. The abduction might be due to differences between the local cadres of the two outfits, intelligence sources said. The Naga outfit abducted the threesome on February 26 from Gayingpur, along the Cachar-Meghalaya border.

The abduction was quite surprising considering the understanding between the two outfits. One Daoraja Dimasa, a civilian, was also abducted along with the three DHD cadres. The DHD and the NSCN-IM have been operating jointly in NC Hills and Cachar of Assam bordering Manipur and Nagaland. Apart from imparting training, the NSCN-IM had provided all logistic and material support to the DHD.

The All Dimasa Students’ Union (ADSU) while expressing concern at the kidnapping vehemently condemned it, a press release said. But the release said that whatever the ground may there be, it could have been disposed of peacefully through discussion.

The ADSU while reiterating its appeals to the DHD to maintain peace and patience at this difficult hour considering the ongoing Dimaraji state issue to be settled during their cease-fire term, is also well aware of the infiltration of other tribes in NC Hills after being driven out from Mizoram, Nagaland and Manipur by their major ruling tribes.

These infiltrators are given land possession rights, employments, business, political rights, etc. by the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council equally with the aboriginal Dimasa and other communities of the district. It also urged the Government and the Council authorities to look into such illegal immigration and take appropriate measure to drive out the infiltrators.

Meanwhile, the Dima Halam Daogah (DHD) has strongly denied the allegation against DHD that its cadres have harassed and tortured the public of Harangajao, stated a press release issued by the publicity secretary Daoraja Dimasa, Dima Halam Daogah recently. The release further stated that the allegation was baseless and politically motivated.
