IM sees ray of hope as talks conclude

Imphal, June 27: NSCN-IM Home Minister Rh Raising told Newmai News Network today that the Amsterdam peace -talks held between the NSCN-IM leaders and the Government of India concluded in a positive manner. Naga groups fear talks collapse

Imphal, June 26: Prominent social organizations of Nagaland today warned of a collapse of the peace process between the Centre and NSCN factions if the Government did not recognize their demand for unification of all Naga dominated areas in North East as a "non-negotiable issue". Rebel release hits hurdle in Nagaland

Kohima, June 19: The Nagaland government’s goodwill gesture to release 56 jailed activists of different militant groups has run into rough weather four months after its initiation. The militants, arrested under the National Security Act and lodged in different jails of the state, were to be released after a cabinet decision by the DAN government in February. The cabinet, subsequently, took the decision to release the rebels, but no executive order has been sent to the prison authorities to set them free.

Centre to extend truce with NSCN(IM)

NEW DELHI, June 19 – The Government of India has decided to rush chief interlocutor K Padmanabhaiah to meet NSCN (IM) leaders next week to work out the modalities for extending the ceasefire for another year. The current round of ceasefire expires on July 31. Rio iterates support for Naga parleys

Kohima, June 14: Naga insurgent leader S.S. Khaplang might follow rivals Isak Chisi Swu and Th. Muivah to India this year. KOHIMA, June 13 – The NSCN(K) has said that the Naga Hoho and other NGOs had been making efforts to foster peace between the two NSCNs since 1997, but without success, reports NEPS.
