AR move to wean away Naga youths from militancy

SHILLONG, April 6: In a new strategy to wean away youths from insurgency, the Assam Rifles has organised an excursion for Naga students. The team consisting of 27 Naga students in the age-group of 14 to 19 years and belonging to 16 schools in Ukhrul area of Manipur, were here on a three-day visit to the State capital. The excursion which started on March 31 last will conclude on April 19. The team will be visiting all the states of the Northeastern region except Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura. The team is being provided free boarding, lodging and transport facility by the Assam Rifles. Most of the students expressed their willingness to join the Assam Rifles on completion of studies. During their visit here, from April 3 to 5, the team met the Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt Gen GK Duggal.
