DA Act to be extended in Tirap, Changlang

ROING (Arunachal Pradesh) February 25: The Disturbed Areas Act, promulgated in Tirap and Changlang districts following growth of insurgency, would be extended by another six months, Union Home Minister LK Advani said here on Saturday. "I have assured the Arunachal Chief Minister that the Act would be further extended for six months, after its expiry in March," Advani said here after inaugurating the Brahmaputra Darshan festival on the bank of Dibang, tributary of Brahmaputra, reports PTI. Reports of extortion and activities by insurgents had come in from the two districts in recent times. Referring to various regulations imposed against the free movement of people in areas of the Northeast, Advani said he would take up the issue like the inner line permits for Indian citizens with the appropriate authorities.
