Jamir opposing peace process: NSCN(I-M)

DIMAPUR, June 24 ? Accusing Nagaland Chief Minister SC Jamir of being opposed to a final solution to the vexed Indo-Naga political issue the steering committee of the NSCN-IM has said his vehement opposition to the first ceasefire declaration in 1964 itself has proven his efforts to crush the Nagas and their rights. ?Jamir has ignored the facts of the Naga and their proud history,? the NSCN said and charged him of attempting to ?hijack the issue of the Naga nation? at a time when the Nagas ?are trying to find a peaceful and final solution to the Naga issue, the NSCN said adding ?but Jamir is deliberately going for armed solution to crush the Nagas and their rights by opposing the ongoing peaceful process.? In a statement made available to the media, the NSCN-IM steering committee stated, ?Jamir was vehemently opposed to the first ceasefire declaration of 1964 and no less to AZ Phizo either? and reproduced a letter written by Jamir while he was the parliamentary secretary, Ministry of External Affairs at New Delhi to the then Chief Executive Councellor of the ?puppet? State of Nagaland, P Shilu Ao. In the letter dated March 22, 1963, Jamir had advised CEC Shilu not to give his consent to the Prime Minister?s willingness to meet Phizo in India and opined that it would be best if they withdrew their signatures from the agreement signed between the Naga People?s Convention and the Government of India for creation of the state of Nagaland. Jamir?s letter also said, ?if he (Prime Minister of India) starts negotiating with Phizo, I am prepared to come back because there is no use sitting here to be only a laughing stock. I believe that we are quite capable to create more troubles than the hostiles would do.? He also expressed his willingness to withdraw his signature in the event the Government of India is prepared to reopen the Agreement. The NSCN termed the controversial booklet The Bedrock of Naga Society authored by Jamir and published by NPCC, as an insult to Nagas and accused him of treason. It also said that Jamir has bought both Khaplang and the Shillong Accord?Naga National Council and that he has been financing both the groups ever since their emergence. He has successfully financed them to serve him faithfully and alleged that Jamir ministry is financing Phizo?s London based daughter Adino sumptuously. NSCN questioned who could deny these facts? ?He knows that the 16-point Agreement and the Shillong Accord are twins being re-enforced by the collaborators like Khaplang group and they take pride in it. For Jamir, Nagalim (Nagaland) is always for a sell-out but to the Nagas is their sweet Homeland never to part with.?
