Last rites after five years of waiting in agony

Imphal, March 5: The word “welcome”, written in bold on the overhead frame of the main door, appears incongruous for once. Young Yumlambem Sanamacha surely had no idea when he wrote the word that he was unwittingly inviting misfortune to his house.

On the night of February 12, 1998, a group of jawans of the Rashtriya Rifles entered Sanamacha’s house in Angtha village of Manipur — without even knocking — and dragged him away. He has not been seen since.

Manipur ultras reject ceasefire offer

IMPHAL, March 1: The banned People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) today rejected the Radhabinod Koijam Government's ceasefire offer to all 17 insurgent outfits and suspension of counter-insurgency operations against them by the army in the State, reports PTI. The PREPAK in a statement here said, the government's offer was 'a trick' to all underground groups and underground cadres 'into lowering their guard.'
