More Naga youth to be inducted into BSF

IMPHAL, April 4 — The Border Security Force, Nagaland and Manipur sector is likely to conduct more recuitment rallies sooner or later in Nagaland. Presently a large number of Naga youths who were recruited last year from seven districts of Nagaland-Dimapur, Tuensang, Mon, Kohima, Zunheboto, Phek and Mokokchung — are undergoing basic training at Churachandpur training centre in Manipur.

Talking to this reporter, an official of the BSF Nagaland & Manipur sector said that recruitment rallies were held at three different places in Nagaland and Manipur wherein 50 youths were selected for general duty. In order to extend the motto “Duty unto Death” of the force in this part of the region, the organisation conducts recruitment rallies every six months at different places of the country.

The BSF is also continuously organising series of civic programmes at different places of Manipur and Nagaland. Besides they also organise medical camps at regular intervals. One such medical camp was held recently at Chouzaba, about 70 km from Kohima in Phek district of Nagaland.

Nagaland Governor Shyamal Dutta attending the medical camp lauded the services rendered by the force in this hilly and remote part of the country. According to a BSF report, medicines, worth Rs 2 lakh were distributed to the villages of Chouzaba, Kilomi, Phugwi, Chetheba, Youreba, Kbasa. Shisulimi, Satakha, Sekrazu, Igahomi, Xuivi, Kbawe etc during the camp.
