MPC alleges MNF link with Naga rebels

AIZAWL, May 17 ? The Mizoram People?s Conference (MPC) youth wing has launched scathing attack against the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) accusing the party leaders of hobnobbing with the underground NSCN (I-M), reports PTI. The allegation, coming in the wake of the State Chief Minister Zoramthanga?s meeting with NSCN leadership in Bangkok, pointed accusing fingers at the State government and the ruling party in signing an agreement with Noida-based Khaibak Enterprise in marketing of ginger from Mizoram. The MPC Youth wing said that the Noida-based firm was owned by close relative of NSCN general secretary Th Muivah and one of them was arrested in connection with attempted hijacking of an airplane from Lengpui Airport here to secure the release of Muivah who was then in Thai jail.

They also alleged that MNF Youth Front leaders used to bring NSCN insurgents from neighbouring State by government vehicles and harboured them in the State Guest House here. ?All the efforts to please the NSCN rebels were made by the ruling party in order to involve Zoramthanga in the Naga peace deal,? the press release added. MNF leaders, however, denied having links with the underground Nagas and said that no criminals or insurgents were entertained or helped by the party leaders. ?Our Chief Minister met the NSCN leadership and other Naga leaders after invitations from both the Centre and the NSCN to help in building mutual trust between the two sides,? one MNF leader said.
