NEW DELHI, April 3 — With elections to Nagaland Assembly over and a new Government taking charge, Government of India has revived the negotiation process with the NSCN (I-M). Centre’s chief interlocutor, K Padmanabhaiah is tipped to leave for Europe for the next round of talks scheduled for later this month.
The forthcoming talks between the Government’s emissary and the NSCN (I-M) leaders by all indication is likely to be a low key affair as substantive issues are unlikely to figure in this round. This round would mainly be about removing the misunderstanding between the I-M leadership and Padmanabhaiah and to invite the outfit for political negotiations to India, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) sources said.
Meanwhile, NSCN (I-M) sources here confirmed that talks are scheduled later this month though the venue has not been fixed as yet.
Meanwhile, indication were that the ensuing round of talks would be attended by only one of the two senior leaders though several senior cadres including R H Raising are slated to fly over to Europe.
Talks on the substantive issues are likely to be held in India if the NSCN (I-M) leaders agree to come over to Delhi, sources said.
But before that the Government of India may have to appoint a political nagotiator to take-over the pence talks. The name of former Mizoram Governor and the first interlocutor Swaraj Kaushal is doing the rounds in the North Block here.
