NSCN (IM) supports ULFA bandh, calls strike in Naga areas

IMPHAL, Dec 21?The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isasc Muivah) extending moral support to ULFA and other revolutionary organisations which have come under heavy attack from the Bhutanese army in Bhutan for the past few days, has imposed a 24 hour bandh in all Naga areas in the North east.

The bandh began at of 6 am on Sunday 21 and will conclude at 6 am the following day, according to sources here. The outfit which is currently continuing peace talk with the Government of India since August 1997 also stated that they fully endorse the 48 hour bandh called by ULFA, NDFB and KLO.

Meanwhile, expressing deep concern over the joint crack down launched by the Royal Bhutanese Army and Indian security forces against ULFA, NDFB and KLO in Bhutan, the general secretary of NSCN (IM) Thuingaleng Muivah expressed shock at the brutalities of the joint forces. The NSCN leader in a statement issued here said that almost all the arrested persons have been shot dead and women activists were raged before they were killed mercilessly.

Alleging that gross human rights violations have been committed by the security personnel, the leader said that it is unfortunate that ?such a situation has been created at a time when serious efforts are being made from various ends for a peaceful solution.? Muivah further alleged that the founder member of ULFA Bhim Buragohain and leaders of Bodo outfit NDFB had taken the initiative to talk with the Bhutanese government and Indian authority. They won even invited to meet the Bhutanese authorities but instead, they were arrested and Buragohain was shot dead while the whereabouts of the other leaders of NDFB and KLO are not yet known.
