KOHIMA, April 27? The following is the chronology of events which led to extension of cease-fire between the Centre and NSCN (K) for another year with effect from April 28, reports PTI.
? Rejecting the 1975 Shillong Accord, S S Khaplang, Issac Swu, Th. Muivah and others defect from NNC (FGN) and form National Socialist Council of Nagaland in 1980.
? Split in NSCN in 1988.
? With the split, factional feuds start throwing law and order out of gear in Nagaland prompting the government to invoke the Disturbed Area Act and Armed Forces (Special Power) Act.
? Armed confrontation becomes order of the day till declaration of ceasefire between the Centre and NSCN (IM) in August 1997.
? The Centre-NSCN (I-M) cease-fire, extended periodically, completes five years in July next. Several rounds of talks held during the period.
? NSCN (K), left out of the Naga peace process, is urged by State government, churches and NGOs to enter into formal ceasefire with the Centre.
? NSCN (K) and Centre declares cease-fire for a period of one year on April 28, 2001.
? Naga Hoho (the apex body) and different NGOs meet top leaders of both underground groups urging them for re-conciliation and unity.
? Government constitutes Cease-fire Supervisory Board (CFSB) with representatives from both sides for effective implementation of ground rules.
