Not all candidates will get security guards in Manipur

Imphal, February 01: Even though the spectre of election related violence looms large, the State Government will not be able to provide security escorts to all the candidates as the number of security personnel to be deployed here has fallen far short from the target desired by the administration. 8.88 lakh to decide fate of valley candidates

Imphal, January 30: Altogether 14, 72,784 voters including 1568 service voters will decide the fate of 368 candidates including five women in the forthcoming 8th Assembly election in February. The first phase of the election on February 14 in 40 valley Assembly constituencies will see a total electorate of 8, 88,895 including 461209 females. Imphal, January 29: Sleuths of the Imphal West Narcotics Cell have busted a racket of Sikhs indulging in collection of money from the public on the false promise of supplying items of a non-existent company with the arrest of 22 members from Hotel Tampha at North AOC this morning. IMPHAL, Jan 29 : Altogether 374 candidates are in the fray for the forthcoming two-phase Manipur Assembly elections after the withdrawal of nomination papers by 17 candidates, election office sources said on Thursday, reports PTI. Gunmen attack house of MPP candidate

IMPHAL, Jan 27 — Unidentified gunmen attacked the house of a Manipur People’s Party (MPP) candidate at Yairipok area in Thoubal district on Tuesday night, official report reaching here said today, reports PTI. The report said the gunmen opened fire at the private house of Nimaichand Luwang, the candidate from Wangkhem constituency, but no casualty was reported.
