Gunmen kill top ATTF leader in Bangladesh

AGARTALA, June 12 – A top leader of the outlawed All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF), Sachindra Debbarma, was killed by gunmen in Bangladesh, Tripura Director General of Police G M Srivastava said here on Friday, reports PTI. Debbarma, political secretary of the ATTF and third in the hierarchy of the rebel organisation, was attacked by gunmen at Tekuarbazar near Teliapara railway station, a few km inside Bangladesh, late on Thursday, Srivastava said.

Packaged drinking water without BIS tag banned in Manipur

IMPHAL,June 12 – Invoking provisions of the Prevention of Food Adulteration Rules 1955, the state authority has banned with immediate effect all packaged drinking water/mineral water that does not have the tags of Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) certificates. State Health Director Ch Chandramani issued an order in this regard on Monday notifying closure of all the mineral water bottling plants in the state which do not possess BIS certificates.

NEW DELHI, June 12 – Seeking continuation of the Naga peace process, a high-level delegation of tribal leaders has demanded putting on hold for Nagaland the Central legislation on downsizing of state ministries and the process of constituency delimitation, reports PTI. Army adopts twin tactics for Manipur

Kohima, June 11: The army has decided to implement a two-pronged strategy in Manipur, undoing the damage caused by allegations of fake encounters on one hand and tackling deteriorating law and order on the other. The army will initiate a damage-control exercise in the state to rebuild confidence among the people while coming down on militancy with an iron hand.
