GUWAHATI, June 3 — In a bid to give a boost to the cross border trade between India and Myanmar, Commerce Ministry has approved Rs 1.70 crore to the Longwa trade point of Nagaland. The funds has been approved for development of township and improvement of the existing roads in the area. The Nagaland Government has been demanding to declare Longwa as a trade point in order to increase the volume of legal trade with Myanmar. Shillong, June 3: The news of a ropeway project, connecting far-flung corners of the Meghalaya, has created a lot of excitement among the denizens. Though the plan is nothing new, the announcement by the public works department minister Mukul Sangma last evening, about the decision to start the project, has given rise to fresh hopes among the people.

Shillong, June 2: Meghalaya chief minister D.D. Lapang today said the state government proposes to create three new sub-divisions. Lapang announced this at a meeting with the 12th Finance Commission this morning. While seeking the “support of the commission,” Lapang said the three new units of civil administration would be at Pynursla in East Khasi Hills district, at Patharkhma in Ri Bhoi district and at Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills district.
