Deserters join Lapang ministry

SHILLONG, Dec 15 ? In a day of fast-moving political developments, the NCP today split and joined the ruling Congress-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government to be rewarded with four ministerial berths. With the split, the ruling MDA?s strength goes up to 49 in a house of sixty. NCP which had 15 members including an associate member has been reduced to nine as six of them formed a new group called Meghalaya NCP. The new faction has extended support to the ruling coalition. The BJP has two members in the house.

Gogoi hails operation

GUWAHATI, Dec 15 ? Assam government has lauded the military action initiated by Royal government of Bhutan to force closure of unauthorised camps belonging to the banned ULFA, NDFB and KLO outfits in that country even as steps have been taken to prevent ultras sneaking into Assam crossing the Indo-Bhutan border. Bhutan launches Army action against NE ultras

NEW DELHI, Dec 15 ? Bhutan today launched military action against Indian insurgent groups operating from camps in that country, a move strongly supported by India, reports PTI. Announcing launching of the operation by Thimpu, External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha told Parliament ?we have been informed by the Royal Government of Bhutan that they have launched today military action against Indian insurgent groups operating from camps in that country?.

Mizo MLA crisis deepens

Aizawl, Dec. 14: The Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA) has refuted Independent legislator H. Lalsangzuala?s claim about being pressured to vacate the Suangpuilawn seat, saying he voluntarily drafted and signed a resignation letter during a meeting last week.
