AGARTALA, March 1 ? Tripura Governor, Lt. Gen (Retd) K M Seth dissolved the Tripura Assembly to avert a constitutional crisis. The Governor issued the notification in this regard on Saturday since the dissolution of the Assembly became necessary as the gap between the period of the last and the next sessions would go beond six months after March 4, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar told reporters.

The 106-year-old Tezpur railway station in Assam?s Sonitpur district built by the British is in dilapidated state, lying virtually abandoned thanks to the neglect by the authorities. BJP turns support nibble into big bite

Kohima, March 3: The BJP, having proved the pundits wrong by notching up six seats in Christian-dominated Nagaland, is now looking at the big picture, that of taking part in a government likely to be headed by the Nagaland People’s Front.

RAF model for Guwahati cop squad to counter Ulfa

Guwahati, March 3: The strategy group of the Unified Command has recommended the formation of a crack police team for Guwahati to counter insurgents.

The recommendation came after a meeting of the Unified Command’s strategy group today which was chaired by chief secretary P.K. Dutta and attended by top security officials, including state director-general of police Hare Krishna Deka and the GOC of Red Horns division Maj. Gen. Gaganjit Singh.

10-year tax holiday for NE States

NEW DELHI, March 1— Government will grant a ten year tax holiday for industries in Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttranchal and the North-eastern States to boost their economic development, reports PTI.
