Keep joint action on hold: NSCN(K)

NEW DELHI, Oct 30 ? Even as threats of joint army operation by India and Myanmar looms large against armed rebels of North-east, a delegation of Khaplang faction of NSCN is likely to land in the Capital next week to ratify the ground rules of the ceasefire.

The signing of the modified draft ground rules has been overshadowed by Myanmar Government?s nod to conduct flush out operations and impending arrival of the rival NSCN (I-M) leaders in India. The Khaplang faction is likely to be hit the most by the junta?s action and is keeping a close watch on developments in Delhi.

NEC meet to finalise roadmap for NE

SHILLONG, Oct 29? Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the 50th meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC) at New Delhi on November 16 next. The meeting is expected to open a new chapter for the Council as a regional planning body. NEC sources here revealed that though the agenda of the meeting is yet to be finalised, the 50th meeting of the NEC is likely to finalise the ?roadmap? for the development of the North Eastern States, which now includes Sikkim.

Govt waiting for NDFB response: CM

NEW DELHI, Oct 29? Confusion prevailed following reports of arrival of top NDFB leaders in the capital for talks with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today and the CM in turn clarifying that there was no such development.

The Chief Minister as well as officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) were taken aback, this morning, when they saw news reports that five top NDFB leaders have arrived in the capital last night from Bangkok for talks with the Government.
