Brahmaputra Board project to reclaim river bank in Guwahati

GUWAHATI, June 18 ? Considering the burgeoning number of Guwahati population and the subsequent rise in the number of vehicular traffic in the city, the Brahmaputra Board, on a request from the Kamrup district administration, has prepared a project to reclaim a portion of the Brahmaputra bank between Sukreswar Ghat and Nilachal hillock. The project named River Training Measure for Strengthening the Embankment of Guwahati City is estimated to entail a cost of around Rs 35 crore. Assam Govt announces austerity steps

GUWAHATI, June 18 ? The State Government today announced a series of austerity measures including a ban on purchase of vehicles, air conditioners and other gadgets. Assam's share of NPCR fund highest

GUWAHATI, June 18 ? Assam has received the highest amount of Rs 239.16 crore from the Non-Lapsable Pool of Central Resources (NPCR) among all the North Eastern States during the last four consecutive financial years since 1998-99. The release of fund from the NPCR is the lowest at Rs 66.81 crore to Meghalaya during the same period due to poor utilisation of funds and lack of viable projects from Meghalaya Government.
