4 children killed in Manipur school blast

IMPHAL, April 26 ? Four children were killed and four others injured when a bomb exploded inside a school compound in Manipur today, official sources said, reports PTI. The bomb, planted by unknown persons, went off at 11.40 am at a school compound at Hangeipat area under Saikul police station in Senapati district killing four children on the spot. Four others sustained grievous injuries, sources said. They were admitted to J N Hospital here while the bodies were sent for post mortem. Police launched a combing operation to find out the culprits but no arrest was made so far.

Central fund use: Meghalaya ranks lowest, Tripura tops list

NEW DELHI, April 25 ? Meghalaya ranked lowest in utilisation of funds from the Centre?s non-lapsable Central pool of resources scheme for the speedy development of the north-eastern region while Tripura topped the list for maximum per capital utilisation of the allocated money, reports PTI. ?The largest amount of Rs 293.16 crore was released for various projects in Assam during the last four financial years allowed by Rs 215.29 crore for Tripura.

Survey of terrorism victims' kin in Assam

GUWAHATI, April 25 ? The Assam Police, under the Project Aashwas, will soon launch a baseline survey of the trauma and requirements of the families of the victims of terrorism. Police sources said that a reputed agency has already been engaged to carry out the survey and the project will be financed by the UNICEF.
