Deputy Commissioner in Manipur abducted

IMPHAL, March 19 ? The Deputy Commissioner of Chandel district of Manipur, Yambom Thamkishor, was abducted by unidentified gunmen from near the electricity colony in Chandel district yesterday. Reports said the incident took place when Thamkishor was going from Uripok Yambem Likai in Imphal West to Chandel district. The Deputy Commissioner was without his escorts at the time of abduction. Sources here said that though the identity of the group abducting him has not been ascertained, the DC had received a demand letter from one underground outfit operating in the State. ULFA, J-K ultras have ISI links

NEW DELHI, March 19 ? The Union Home Ministry today added a new twist to militancy by disclosing that militants belonging to ULFA and Jammu and Kashmir have a nexus with the ISI of Pakistan. Chandel public sets 10 am deadline today for DC release

Imphal, March 19: The whereabouts of kidnapped Chandel DC Yambem Thamkishore Singh is not yet known till now. However state forces led by DIG (Range) V Zathang and aided by paramilitary troops are continuing large scale operation to track the kidnapped bureaucrat. RPF clarifies on Delhi arrest

Imphal, March 19: The RPF has clarified that Kh Brojen who was arrested by police in Delhi recently is not related to the outfit. Delhi Police had claimed that Brojen is the RPF external affairs department chief. In a statement issued today, RPF said it has entrusted no activities to Brojen alias Somy alias Ibungo alias Tomba as he has taken leave on medical grounds.
