GUWAHATI, Jan 27 – Two policemen, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Kamrup District, Sri Devajit Pathak, and the driver of his vehicle Sri Digbijoy Dutta, were killed, while 21 others were injured, six of them seriously, in three separate incidents of extremist bomb blasts in the State today. UPDS leader shot dead

TURA, Jan 24 — Unidentified gunmen shot dead Gandhi Teron, vice-chairman of the United Peoples Democratic Society (UPDS) at his residence at Monitilla village in Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday around 8.15 pm, according to reports available here. Teron was one of the UPDS leaders in favour of talks with the Government and it is suspected that he was killed at the behest of those opposing dialogue. Police recovered empty cartriogdes of AK-47 rifles from the site of the incident. Vigorous investigation was on, police said.
