GUWAHATI, March 27: About 200 members of families of martyrs who laid down their lives during six-year-long Assam agitation, today resorted to indefinite hunger-strike at Dispur Last Gate here demanding fulfilment of their 12-point charter of demands. HC suspends termination of 2581 Manipur govt staff

IMPHAL, March 27: The Imphal Bench of the Gauhati High Court today suspended the termination of 2581 state government employees, who were appointed after the signing of MoU between the Centre and the state government. HC for damages to Tripura torture victim

AGARTALA, March 27: Justice N.S. Singh of the Agartala bench of the Gauhati High Court today issued notices to the state and Union governments, asking why compensation of Rs 15 lakh should not be awarded to five civilians who were tortured by security forces. The non-tribal civilians were physically tortured by Assam Rifles jawans in the name of counter-insurgency operations in Kanchanpur subdivision on May 3 last year. Golok Rajbonshi passes away

GUWAHATI, March 26: Senior Congress leader and former minister Golok Rajbonshi breathed his last in his Beltola residence this morning. He was 77. Rajbonshi, who actively participated in the freedom struggle, was elected to the State Assembly from the Rangapara constituency in Sonitpur district for the first time in 1972.
