NEW DELHI, Dec 26 – In a poor reflection of endeavour of the North-eastern states, all the states in the region including Assam have missed targets of compensatory aforestation, even as questions have been raised about the manner in which the Supreme Court’s direction has been interpreted. Indo-Myanmar border trade soon: Shourie

Centre not averse to N-E package

GUWAHATI, Dec 25 – Union Minister for Department of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) Arun Shourie today stated that the Central government was not averse to provide a ‘special package’ to the region in case the NE states show capability for prompt and honest execution of the projects. Centre to conduct study on trade points

GUWAHATI, Dec 20— The Union Commerce Ministry has decided to conduct a detailed survey on the border trade points in the North East. Highly-placed official sources today informed that the decision was taken in order to improve the present condition of the trade points. NEW DELHI, Dec 19— The first ATR-42 50 seater aircraft arrived from France here today even as the Civil Aviation Ministry today announced the flight schedule for the regional air service in the North East, to be operated under Alliance Air. Guwahati, Dec. 17: Alarmed at the increasing number of non-performing assets, the board of directors of North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (NEDFi) has decided to take action against defaulters

The board has decided to take recourse to the Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act, 2002, passed recently.
