Massive manhunt on to nab killers in Tripura

AGARTALA, Jan 28 ? Amid the security alert sounded through out the State following the massacre of 11 villagers by the insurgents of banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) at Mandai Chowmahani village in West Tripura district on Sunday, a massive search operation is on in the area, reports PTI.

Mandai massacre survivor dies in hail of bullets

Jirania (West Tripura), Jan. 27: Young Kanu Roy and his bride Mayarani had managed to escape death in the infamous Mandai massacre on June 8, 1980. But bullets separated them last night when a volley of gunfire felled Kanu.

11 killed in Tripura carnage

Agartala, Jan. 27: Blood stained Tripura?s run-up to the Assembly elections with suspected militants killing 11 supporters of the ruling CPM and their family members after picking them out from a non-tribal area. The massacre occurred last night in West Tripura?s Bankim Nagar, 30 km from Agartala, despite security alerts about possible militant strikes on or before Republic Day.

The CPM had also appealed to the Election Commission last week to step up security arrangements in Tripura in the wake of attacks on party workers.

Militants massacre 11 in Tripura

JIRANIA, Jan 27 ? Suspected National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) (Biswamohan) militants massacred 11 non-tribals including women and children at Mandai Choumuhani, Jirania, in West Tripura district on the night of Republic Day celebration. Agartala, Jan. 22: The powerful but rival militant outfits, the National Liberation Front of Tripura and the All-Tripura Tiger Force, have made their stands clear ahead of the Assembly polls in the state in February.

20-year-old gangraped in Tripura

Agartala, Jan. 14: Militants of the National Liberation Front of Tripura on Sunday raped and murdered a 20-year-old in Dhalai district, police said today. Last month, 13-year-old Mangalaxmi Debbarma was raped before being strangled in the Brajendranagar area under Jirania police station.

Sources said NLFT militants armed with sophisticated weapons stormed the house of Manna Kumar Tripura in the remote Jamircherra area in Dhalai.

Delhi talks prompt Tripura demand

Agartala, Jan. 10: The latest round of Naga talks in New Delhi has already led to demands for similar parleys with outfits in Tripura, but these are mostly from poll-bound political parties rather than the militants themselves. Tripura turns heat on Dhaka

Calcutta, Jan. 4: Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar today said the border areas of Tripura have become a terror hub because of the neglect of the northeastern state’s natural resources and the lack of development projects initiated by the Centre. Tripura rebels warn Jamatyas

Agartala, Dec. 28: Militants of the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) have warned Jamatya tribals of serious consequences if they do not pay taxes this year. They have also threatened to attack non-tribal settlements located close to the Jamatya-inhabited areas.
