Top ULFA leader held in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, June 13 ? Arpan Saikia alias Niranjan Borthakur alias Keshav Mahanta, ULFA?s commander in-charge of Rongpur Anchalik Parishad was arrested by Dibrugarh district police and Army personnel at Pathalibam under Moran police station yesterday. Army walaid him as he was proceeding to a woman ULFA member?s house, Sivasagar police superientendent K V Sing Dev said today. Residents beaten up during raids by security personnel in Manipur

Imphal, June 13: Security personnel, believed to be Assam Rifles troops, seriously beat up several civilians, including a woman, during search operations in the early hours today at Thangmeiband Khoyathong Thingen Maru. Compensate for lapses Gogoi tells Centre

GUWAHATI, June 12 ? Assam Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi today urged the Centre to compensate the ?huge disparity?, between the estimates of the Tenth and Eleventh Finance Commissions in respect of shares of central taxes and the actual receipts, reports PTI.
