Banned outfit welcomes highway project

Imphal, Dec. 31: A secessionist outfit of Manipur today welcomed the ambitious 1,360-km-long trilateral highway project connecting the country with Myanmar and Thailand. The banned Revolutionary People?s Front (RPF) in a statement said the proposed project would benefit Manipur.

Manipur, Mizoram set up joint power commission

IMPHAL, Dec 11?In a significant development, Manipur and Mizoram have set up a joint power commission to study the problems and grievances being faced by the consumers of the two neighbouring states in the north east region. Manipur stress on safe sex, family planning

Imphal, June 6: With more than 15,000 people testing positive for HIV in Manipur so far, an alarmed government has decided to install condom vending machines in three districts. Manipur will be the first state in the Northeast to have such a facility.

State family welfare minister Bijoy Koijam said such a step would promote safer sexual practices and as well as family planning. The condoms will be available free of cost, he said.

The Manipur family welfare department has struck a deal for supply of 12 such machines from the Mumbai-based Hindustan Latex Company.
