Scheme to boost NE tech education

GUWAHATI, Jan 16 — Technical education is to be upgraded and expanded in six north-eastern states ie Aruanchal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura besides Jammu & Kashmir and the union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. India, China sign MoU on river data: Assam, Arunachal to benefit

NEC okays Rs 2382 lakh

SHILLONG, Jan 3 — The North Eastern Council (NEC) has approved Rs 2382 lakh and sanctioned for release of Rs 261 lakh for implementation of various schemes in different constituent states of Northeastern region during the months of November and December, 2001, NEC sources said, reports PTI. Among the Northeastern states, Rs 441.10 lakh was approved for Arunachal Pradesh, Rs 1672.58 lakh was for Assam, Rs 18.77 lakh for Manipur and rest for Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland, the sources said. Horticulture mini mission for NE ready: Chaoba

IMPHAL, April 30: Union Minister of State for Food Processing Thounaojam Chaoba today stated that a horticulture mini mission for the Northeast region is ready to be set up in the state. The five-year mini mission will be divided into four phases. NE gets Rs 36 cr to boost tourism

GUWAHATI, April 29: An amount of Rs 36.63 crore was released by the Union government for development of tourism in the Northeastern region during 2000-2001, PTI release said. Interest subsidy is available to 1-3 star-heritage category hotels in the Guwahati-Kaziranga-Shillong-Tawang travel circuit on loans sanctioned by IDBI, ICICI, SIDBI, IFCI, etc., at the rate of 5 per cent. Besides, expenditure tax has been waived for hotels located in hilly or rural areas till March 31, 2008.
