Nine oil tankers set ablaze on NH-39

IMPHAL, January 23:In an incident that has no precedent in Manipur, altogether nine loaded oil tankers were set ablaze by suspected underground militants this morning on National Highway 39, at a place close to Karong in the Senapati district. The tankers, six carrying petrol, two high-speed diesel and one kerosene, were returning to Imphal after loading up at Kharkoti, near Tinsukia in Assam. Each tanker was carrying 10 to 12 kilolitres of oil. The All Manipur Petroleum Products Transporters Association has since decided to suspend all services indefinitely in protest against the incident...

State government submits action plan, agrees to CBI probe

IMPHAL, July 21: A high-powered Central team today expressed concern over the smuggling of foreign goods through this border town in Chandel district bordering Myanmar, official sources said. Rs 554 lakh NEDFI funds for NE projects

GUWAHATI, August 4: The North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) has sanctioned projects amounting to Rs 554 lakh in Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur and Assam. An official release said the statewise allocation was: Mizoram Rs 156.30 lakh, Manipur Rs 156 lakh; Tripura Rs 105 lakh and Assam Rs 137 lakh. NEDFi has sanctioned Rs 144 lakh as term loan to Greenwood Hospital Pvt Ltd for setting up a 59-bed hospital in Bawngkawn, Aizawl.
