Manipur seeks Rs 14,000 cr from 12th finance panel

IMPHAL, June 1 – With the stated objective of reaping the maximum benefits from the 12th Finance Commission, the State Government has approached the Commission to earmark a sum of Rs 14,000 crore for the State in the next five year Plan, which will come into effect from April next year and to set aside Rs 1000 crore to enable the State face its peculiar problems. No new taxes in Manipur budget

IMPHAL, March 12–No new taxes were imposed in the deficit Budget presented for the next financial year in the Manipur Assembly Tuesday, reports PTI. No new tax in Ibobi's deficit budget

Imphal, March 11: Manipur chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh today presented a Rs 452.47-crore deficit budget for 2003-04. Ibobi Singh, who holds the finance portfolio, did not make any proposal to introduce new taxes.

FCI shuts shop over Manipur abduction

Imphal, Jan. 22: All Food Corporation of India (FCI) godowns in Manipur and the adjoining states have been shut down following the abduction of FCI deputy director Sadashivam by suspected militants along the Imphal-Moreh route yesterday.
