IM sees ray of hope as talks conclude

Imphal, June 27: NSCN-IM Home Minister Rh Raising told Newmai News Network today that the Amsterdam peace -talks held between the NSCN-IM leaders and the Government of India concluded in a positive manner. Naga groups fear talks collapse

Imphal, June 26: Prominent social organizations of Nagaland today warned of a collapse of the peace process between the Centre and NSCN factions if the Government did not recognize their demand for unification of all Naga dominated areas in North East as a "non-negotiable issue". "Unification of all Naga areas under a single administration is our birth right and a non-negotiable issue ...the extension of ceasefire between the Centre and NSCN factions could be a problem if this demand is not accepted," Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) spokesman Neingulo Krome told reporters here...

Nagaland for out-of-court settlement

KOHIMA, June 26 – Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has said his government was for an out-of-court settlement of the prolonged dispute over demarcation of inter-state boundary lines with Assam in a spirit of ‘give and take,’ reports PTI. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had announced that the issue must be settled by the Supreme Court, but “my government is for resolving the matter amicably in a spirit of give and take outside the court,” Rio told the state Assembly on Saturday. Naga infiltration creates tension in Karbi Anglong

KARBI ANGLONG, June 26 –Tension continued in the Dhansiri Reserve Forest area of central Assam's Karbi Anglong district following an attempt to construct houses and a church there by Nagas from across the border, reports PTI.

Rebel release hits hurdle in Nagaland

Kohima, June 19: The Nagaland government’s goodwill gesture to release 56 jailed activists of different militant groups has run into rough weather four months after its initiation. Centre to extend truce with NSCN(IM)

NEW DELHI, June 19 – The Government of India has decided to rush chief interlocutor K Padmanabhaiah to meet NSCN (IM) leaders next week to work out the modalities for extending the ceasefire for another year. The current round of ceasefire expires on July 31.
