Singpho cultural festival concludes in style

BORDUMSA (Arunachal), Feb 15 — After three days of festivities, it is time for the thousands of Singphos who congregated here since Wednesday to disperse. It’s a sad occasion, and significantly, the celebrations ended with the ‘separation dance’ called Kumran Manao in the Singpho dialect. Singpho festival showcases rich culture

BORDUMSA (Arunachal), Feb 14 – Hkap Tau La Ga Ai, announced the welcome arch at the public playground here. The meaning of this Singpho phrase is, ‘we wish you a hearty welcome’. This gesture by itself was more than welcome, after the end of a 40 kilometre back-breaking journey from Margherita, through dense forests and dacoit-infested treacherous stretches. Boori-boot in Arunachal celebrated

ITANAGAR, Feb 7 — Boori-boot, the most important festival of Hill Miri tribes of Arunachal Pradesh was celebrated with traditional gaiety and religious fervour in the state on Wednesday, reports PTI. Governor Arvind Dave greeted the people on the occasion, and said the people of Arunachal Pradesh are nature lovers and worship nature for the welfare of entire humanity. Litterateur Talom Rukbo dead

ITANAGAR, Jan 1 — Talom Rukbo, a prominent literary figure of the State, died in his residence at Pasighat headquarters of East Siang district, family sources said today, reports PTI. Rukbo, who died yesterday was 70. He was survived by his wife and three sons. Rukbo was the founder editor of the Echo of Arunachal, the first newspaper published from the State. Common script mooted for Arunachal tribes

ITANAGAR, April 11: Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister Dera Natung has said efforts will be made to develop a script for all tribes of the State, reports PTI. Speaking at a meeting where 'Tani Lipi,' a script developed by a senior government officer and linguist, Tony Koyu, was introduced, Natung said on Monday it was a memorable occasion that the State was inching towards a common State language.
