GUWAHATI, June 4 ? The neglected North East has now got the best possible opportunities to make a foray into the booming Information Technology enabled services (ITES). Its students will now be able to get themselves trained in ITES with the Department of Development of the North Eastern Region (DONER) offering a heavy subsidy to pursue the course. 8 securitymen of Sapoi TE suspended

TEZPUR, June 4 ? Eight security personnel including one Lance Naik of Assam police and seven Home Guards constables were placed under suspension after they failed to protect the life of two tea executives of Sapoi tea estates, who were dragged out of their residences by irate tea labourers and burnt to death on May 30 last.

Open-cast uranium mining in Meghalaya likely

SHILLONG, June 3? The Uranium Corporation of India Ltd (UCIL) will adopt the open-cast method of mining uranium at Domiasiat in the West Khasi Hills to ensure safety to the people and the environment.
